this came up briefly in another thread, but I thought I'd ask.
Since the creature from the cover art of Minion Hunter and Minion Nation is apparently not defined in any way...
What would you make it out to be? What sort of creature would you make it if you wanted to use it in your game?
Sincerely, Dante

I would think that, as it is being led by other Darklings, it is not necessarily a very intelligent being. It may well be what they use as a living tank, huge and with brute strength to batter opponents into submission. Possibly the creature has a tough hide which offers some sort of armour value, or it might even have some inherent empathic ability which enables it to deflect attacks...or to cause fear in enemies. As if being 20 metres tall and looking that way isn't scary enough! On the other pseudopod, with Dark Conspiracy being the way it is, we might be reading the picture wrong and the big fellow is actually a slave that the others are using as forced labour. Maybe even a combination of both: they took the big guy's family hostage and are making him do their dirty work...he's a big softy really. I guess that most of us here will want to go with my first option though, so who else has anything on this?

Alternatively some sort of non-Bloodkin troll (use same stats minus all the light sensitive stuff). Him and his little pals look like they belong in a fantasy RPG anyway...

Him and his little pals look like they belong in a fantasy RPG anyway... Could be that this is what happens if you force-feed an ogre, instead of getting fatter they just bigger in all directions? As for looking like fantasy types, there are a whole bunch of proto-dimensions and most things are possible. Be funny if the big chap could only be felled by a special sword though...

Don't want to turn it into Shadowrun. Did have fun with Tir Na Nog though (one of Norm's P-dims from Demonground as I recall). For some reason I've got visions of the bloke in the trench coat losing his bottle and shouting "THEY SHOULDN'T BE THERE!" before dropping his high tech shooter* and legging it a fast as his legs will carry him. He'll be in big trouble when the ginger lass catches up with him afterwards. *Who lets their PCs have this sort of gear? I certainly don't.

*Who lets their PCs have this sort of gear? I certainly don't. There's another common DC trope right there...you don't let them have that kind of gear unless it is either too late or of no use to them

nice responses. Hadn't thought of fear-projection- may incorporate that in to my vision.
And what was my own vision?
Well, I looked at it, and my first thought, for some reason, was "hound".
A hunting creature. Ironically, it did occur to me that that would make it a "Minion *Hunter*"- minion who hunts.
A sort of seek-and-destroy creature used by minions against minion hunters.
For some reason, I didn't get "big lunk"- while maybe not "intelligent" in a standard sense, perhaps a high degree of cunning? Good enough to make it very effective for stalking and tracking. Not "Subtle", as it's, of course, huge, but effective and implacable.
That was my impression, at least.
Just gotta come up with a name for the species, now...
strangely, tho, I never gave much thought to the handlers...
Sincerely, Dante
